About the Role


The Fraud Investigation Specialist will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating fraudulent activities on our platform, with a strong focus on payment fraud detection and prevention. This role requires expertise in working with payment systems—primarily Stripe—and the ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, startup environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in fraud investigations and a proactive approach to protecting users and company resources.

What You Will Do
 As a Fraud Investigation Specialist at Favorited, you will play a critical role in identifying and mitigating fraudulent activities on our platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the integrity of our payment systems and improve fraud detection strategies. This role offers the opportunity to shape fraud prevention processes in a dynamic and rapidly growing live-streaming environment.

  • Investigate and resolve payment fraud cases, including chargebacks, unauthorized transactions, and platform abuse.

  • Monitor transactions in real time, identifying anomalies and responding proactively.

  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and data teams to develop fraud detection tools and enhance investigation processes.

  • Document fraud cases, develop SOPs, and stay current on fraud trends and regulatory requirements.

  • Support trust and safety initiatives by refining fraud prevention strategies and sharing insights.


What We Are Looking for: 

We are looking for a highly analytical, experienced fraud investigator who can independently lead fraud detection efforts and adapt quickly to the evolving needs of our platform. The ideal candidate will possess deep knowledge of payment systems and regulatory frameworks, as well as excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally.

  • Experience: 3-5+ years in fraud investigations or risk management, preferably in a startup or fast-paced environment.

  • Payment Expertise: Hands-on experience with Stripe (required). Familiarity with other payment platforms (e.g., PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay) is a plus.

  • Technical Skills: Analytical with the ability to interpret large datasets and identify fraud patterns. Basic familiarity with SQL or data tools is beneficial.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of fraud and financial regulatory requirements.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to present findings and collaborate across teams.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong ability to detect inconsistencies and anomalies in data.

  • Bonus: Experience with data science, business intelligence tools, or machine learning-based fraud detection.



Where You’ll Work

This is a full-time hybrid position based in Santa Monica, CA. You will work 2-3 days per week in our office, collaborating closely with a passionate and talented team.
