The Problems You’ll Solve

  • Rig expressive, semi-stylized characters and props that hold up in real-time and pre-rendered contexts

  • Create rigs that are animator-friendly, performant, and modular

  • Bring our avatars and in-stream assets to life with clean, predictable setups

  • Work with technical artists and engineers to solve unexpected rigging + performance issues

  • Develop and refine rigging templates that scale with our content pipeline

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain control rigs for characters and props, primarily in Unreal and Houdini

  • Work with and re-target motion capture data to 3D character rigs

  • Collaborate with modelers and animators to ensure rig compatibility and usability

  • Create deformation systems that balance stylization with anatomical believability

  • Debug and fix rigging issues across multiple projects and file types

  • Document workflows and help define best practices for rigging within our pipeline

  • Optimize rigs for real-time performance in mobile and streaming environments

Job requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience rigging characters and props in a professional production pipeline

  • Experience with Unreal Control Rigging and Metahumans

  • Experience with Houdini and or other procedural, node-based workflows

  • Familiarity with Houdini’s KineFX or Apex rigging systems, or willingness to learn it quickly

  • Strong understanding of rigging principles, deformation, and weight painting

  • Knowledge of animation and animation principles

  • Ability to collaborate with modelers, animators, and engineers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with motion capture cleanup and retargeting

  • Familiarity with USD-based pipelines

  • Understanding of asset optimization for mobile or real-time workflows

  • Experience working with stylized or semi-stylized characters

Nice to Haves:

  • Knowledge of Blender rigging tools

  • Python scripting

  • Experience in mobile games, AR, or real-time avatar projects

  • Experience debugging rig performance in streaming contexts
